Building Bayswater – Recommendations for Local Planning Strategy

Shape Urban recently delivered Building Bayswater, an extensive community engagement process that provided the community with the opportunity to provide input to the future of development and built form in the City. The result was a series of recommendations for the Local Planning Strategy and a suite of supporting documents that report the outcomes of the process. The process included: 

• 12 events and pop-ups with diverse community groups, utilising group mapping activities and brainstorming; 
• an online forum engaging 72 participants to discuss thoughts and considerations regarding built form and development in depth; and 
• a two-day Citizens Jury/Community Engagement Panel (the Panel), attended by 35 community members selected by stratified random sampling. 

This project won the 2018 award for Excellence in Community Engagement from the Planning Institute of Australia (WA Division).
