Shape Urban lead a project team that undertook the urban design and masterplanning for the Civic Precinct Masterplan project in the City of Belmont. It led the City’s administrative staff and elected members through a process of developing a holistic and long term vision the precinct, which includes planning for a new Community Centre which has received Lotterywest and Commonwealth grant funding.
The process involved:
- A detailed analysis of planning context of the site;
- An assessment of opportunities and challenges;
- Undertaking community consultation by survey with a positive response rate; and
- The delivery of the urban design and planning elements of the Faulkner Civic Precinct Masterplan which includes the City’s Civic and Administrative Centre, a library, a leisure centre, a senior citizens space and considerable open space.
The Masterplan meets the needs of the local government, requirements for public facilities and the expectations of the community. It is leading the recreation of the precinct, providing vibrant spaces for the community.
